Meet.Understand.Move.
Researchers, doctors & community unite in the fight against AIDS.

In order to combat AIDS, the German-Austrian AIDS Congress has set itself the goal to make an essential contribution to integrating the activities of AIDS researchers, medical staff, the community, representatives of social professions and social scientists. In its function as PCO, EVENT SERVICE RS was entrusted with the organisation of the congress and was fully responsible for the areas of sponsoring, industrial exposition, congress logistics, registration, fringe programme and budget planning. In addition, the project team assisted both the congress president, Univ. Prof. Dr Heribert Stoiber and the international team duringthe organisation of the scientific programme, abstract management and selection of speakers. The jointly developed congress motto “Meet. Understand. Move” admonished the representatives of the main fields – science, medicine, community and industry – to not only engage in an intense exchange but also to cooperate in all points of contact.

In cooperation with the University Hospital of Innsbruck bike team, the Red Ribbon Road Tour – a symbolic ribbon-shaped ride in support of needy HIV-infected persons in the Tyrol – served as a spring board for a comprehensive public programme aiming at carrying the sensitive issue of HIV from its specialized scientific environment into society. The Social Night (M.U.M.M. – Meet. Understand. Move. Music) offered public access to a charity concert for the benefit of organisations focusing on the fight against AIDS. With the support of local and international artists, the trendy “Stadtcafé”, a hotspot of the scene in Innsbruck, served as a backdrop for the conscious illustration and resolving of clichés. Together with AIDS-Hilfe Tyrol (Aidscare Tyrol) and under the patronage of Gery Keszler, who also delivered the eulogy, EVENT SERVICE RS carried out a Tyrol-wide creative competition with an HIV-focused prevention message for all pupils attending classes higher than the 10th grade. Additionally, the congress was especially opened for pupils and youngsters and provided them with the opportunity to participate in guided tours and workshops. Numerous media reports and a nomination for the Austrian Event Award in the category “Congress” underline the positive public perception of the event and its organizers.

Staged in Düsseldorf in 2015, the congress will return to Austria in 2017. Once again, EVENT SERVICE RS will be entrusted with the overall organisation of the event, this time in Salzburg.
