In June 2017, the largest and most important Germanophone expert congress dealing with AIDS and HIV takes place in this year‘s host city Salzburg. The motto of the congress, „HIV in Motion“ points to the fact that everything is indeed in motion – including fundamental research, therapy and supplies.
As the organizer of the congress, EVENT SERVICE RS for the second time shoulders responsibility for all issues concerning sponsor support, industrial, NGO and poster exhibitions, congress logistics and registration as well as the realization of the fringe programme and the complete planning of the budget. As PCO, the team also develops the website as well as the congress app and not only supports Congress President Prof. Heribert Stoiber in planning the scientific programme but also in dealing with abstract and speaker management; additionally, EVENT SERVICE RS serves as the interface between the international and local committee with a strong integration of the community board. With a scientific programme that equally focuses on medical and social topics, the congress not only addresses everyone working in the field of HIV, but is also directed at affected persons, pupils and adolescents. Apart from up-to-date presentations and professional lectures at interdisciplinary plenaries, symposia and workshops, participants are offered the opportunity to visit the poster, industry and NGO exhibitions, to carry out a rapid HIV test or to have a look at the expressive pictures of Philipp Leidl, an artist from Salzburg.
The publicly accessible fundraising campaign, „Out of the Box“, where bike trial professional Tom Öhler performs spectacular tricks, is a special highlight for the participants. The collected donations are handed over to the Aidshilfe Salzburg (Salzburg AIDS Association) in order to support single mothers with AIDS. The subsequent scientific evening especially focuses on the activities of AIDS scientists, doctors, nursing staff, the community, people who work in social professions and social scientists fighting AIDS, thereby providing a dignified setting for the tributes and award presentations of the event. For this purpose, host Lukas Schweighofer and committee member Annette Haberl welcome the winning class of the nationwide Pupils‘ Award with their self-created song to the stage. Following the congress motto „Alles in Bewegung“, i.e „Everything in Motion“, breathtaking acrobatic show acts symbolize the topic of the event and, together with a live band and a DJ, bring the vision of the DÖAK – to act in an interdisciplinary and integrative manner – to life with a vivid display of artistic expression.
