EVENT SERVICE RS presented the “Network Challenge” as a preliminary campaign of the BAWAG P.S.K. Cup 2014. The aim was to assist the branches of the bank with the establishment of the broadest possible network in their region and to increase the interest of both the population and the public for Austria's largest amateur football tournament.
In preparation for this event, regional support workshops for all interested staff members were initiated. The topics were “networking” and “target setting and target achievement”. Based on the “lessons learned” after the first successful staging of the tournament in the year 2012, the potentials and applicability of the cup as a “regional networking platform” were identified and application criteria for possible venues were defined. Subsequently, numerous staff members, club officials and SMEs formed local delegations and applied for the organization of a qualifying event. After an evaluation of the applications at the management level, a total number of 47 local delegations was commissioned with the realisation of a qualification event and simultaneously invited to a grand kick-off event at the scalaria near Lake Wolfgang.
In the course of an interactive multimedia game show involving the participation of numerous prominent guests, the applicants received all required information about the impending cup and “battled” for the role as hosts of the provincial tournaments as well as for the grand finale including a live public viewing of the 2014 World Cup. Not least due to theenergetic support of the networking delegations, the BAWAG P.S.K Cup 2014 exceeded all expectations in the following year.
