As a reinforcement of the successfully established TV ad series around the fictitious football club “FC Wohlenegg” with the congenial bank adviser “Hannes”, BAWAG P.S.K entrusted the EVENT SERVICE RS team with planning and realising a national below-the-line campaign. In close cooperation with KaiserCommunications and a central customer-internal project team, the years 2012 and 2014 saw the largest nationwide football tournament for amateur kickers to date; strongly involving the branch offices of BAWAG P.S.K, the event was organized as a “Celebration for the Whole Family” and awarded a nomination in the “Overall Communication” category of the Austrian Event Award.
The competition mode: from table football to mini-pitch and, finally, the match of legends! In the course of qualifying competitions, teams of six to ten players demonstrated their skills at mastering an obstacle course, soccer tennis and a giant table football tournament. During the ensuing provincial mini-pitch tournaments, the kickers were equipped with new team kits and ambitiously competed for participation in the highlight of the event, the Austrian final, whichtook place on the day of the European Championship/World Cup final and included a public viewing event. The main prize of the event included a football celebration in the home municipality of the winning team, a match of legends against Herbert Prohaska's Copa Pele and coaching tips by Ivicia Vastic!
The supporting programme offered a children's area with care staff, a football bouncy castle, an airtrack mat and numerous possibilities to win prizes at different goalscoring and ball skills contests. Sponsors, prominent politicians, former and active famous Austrian sports persons as well as media-raffle meet and greet winners were welcomed on location by presenters Christian Brugger and Stefan Steinacher before utilising various attractions to compete against other visitors and testimonial Ivica Vastic.
During the preparation phase, the 30-strong event crew was made familiar with the event format and equipment in the course of a multi-day training programme. Using five cameras and a mobile video wall, a special TV crew broadcast the events during the provincial tournaments and the final game. The PR team managed the processing of all infos, interviews, images and highlight videos for the website, online blogs and facebook. Press reports, photo and video material were directly made available to the press and guaranteed comprehensive editorial reporting on TV, HF, print and online media.
